Before joining AWS, he was the chief information officer of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, (part of the Department of Homeland Security), chief information officer of Intrax, and chief executive officer of Auctiva. He has a MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Yale University, and a Master of Arts in philosophy from Yale University.
